YES! HILLARY FOR SECRETARY OF STATE!!
Please donate to the Red CrossLA.org to help people devastated by the California wildfires. Thank you. Though we don't live near the hot spots — which seem to be springing up everywhere — the smell of smoke was everywhere, and our cars were covered with ashes.Due to extraordinary interest, my article "Why Christians are Wrong on Gay Marriage" will be published soon in a national magazine. Meanwhile you can read the excerpts below — or check out my cover story on the election, Obama, and the gay rights issue. It has lots of pictures!Cover Story Lydia Cornell- Election Special
HILLARY WOULD MAKE THE BEST SECRETARY OF STATE!
I sense that Hillary and Barack would be amazing together on the world stage. On Chris Matthews' show today, Joan Walsh said that "there is not even an inch of light between Hillary and Barack's foreign policies -- they virtually agree on everything." Note to readers: Don't you dare bring up Hillary's wrong votes in Congress, which she has explained ad nauseum were based on lies told to Congress by the Bush administration.
Even Chris Matthews admitted today that no one can compare to Hillary Clinton. She is not only stunningly beautiful, but by far the most brilliant, wise and articulate person for the job. Both Bill and Hillary are beloved around the world and have America's best interests at heart (unlike Bush and Cheney, who worked for big Oil and Global interests.)
Hillary Clinton is a win-win choice. I have to get the exact Matthews soundbite, but he was literally gushing over Hillary and agreeing with Joan Walsh of Salon.com. Matthews also made a beautiful speech about the U.S. leading the way in world peace.

Clinton Has Momentum For State Post
Media reports suggest Sen. Hillary Clinton's chances of landing the Secretary of State post in the Obama Administration are on the upswing. In a story on Obama's meeting with Sen. John McCain, NBC Nightly News reported that "momentum is building for" Clinton, "a prospect serious enough transition officials are now pouring over Bill Clinton's finances and donors to his foundation, a concern potential conflicts of interest with an active former president whose philanthropic efforts span the globe."
The Washington Post reports, "Officials did not describe Obama as having formally offered" Clinton the Cabinet seat, but "said that there is an understanding that if she can sort out some of the complications that accompany her husband's global work -- which has made him an international philanthropic powerhouse but also earned him millions in speaking fees from foreign companies, creating a potential conflict of interest -- she would have a strong, if not completely certain, shot at it." MSNBC's Hardball also reported that "specifically at issue is [former President] Clinton's elaborate and secret financial ties to foreign governments, businesses and individuals."
Britain's Guardian, meanwhile, reports "Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned."
The New York Times reports in a front-page story that former President Clinton's "postpresidential life as a globe-trotting philanthropist, business consultant and speech-giver poses the highest hurdle for Mrs. Clinton to overcome if President-elect Barack Obama chooses to nominate her as secretary of state, according to aides of the Clintons and Mr. Obama."

Sarah Palin Blamed by the US Secret Service Over Death Threats Against Barack ObamaBy Tim Shipman, The Telegraph (UK). Posted November 11, 2008.
Palin's attacks on Obama's patriotism provoked a spike in death threats against him Secret Service agents say.
Sarah Palin's attacks on Barack Obama's patriotism provoked a spike in death threats against the future president, Secret Service agents revealed during the final weeks of the campaign.
The Republican vice presidential candidate attracted criticism for accusing Mr Obama of "palling around with terrorists", citing his association with the sixties radical William Ayers.
The attacks provoked a near lynch mob atmosphere at her rallies, with supporters yelling "terrorist" and "kill him" until the McCain campaign ordered her to tone down the rhetoric.
But it has now emerged that her demagogic tone may have unintentionally encouraged white supremacists to go even further.
The Secret Service warned the Obama family in mid October that they had seen a dramatic increase in the number of threats against the Democratic candidate, coinciding with Mrs Palin's attacks.
Michelle Obama, the future First Lady, was so upset that she turned to her friend and campaign adviser Valerie Jarrett and said: "Why would they try to make people hate us?"
The revelations, contained in a Newsweek history of the campaign, are likely to further damage Mrs Palin's credentials as a future presidential candidate. She is already a frontrunner, with Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, to take on Mr Obama in four years time.
Details of the spike in threats to Mr Obama come as a report last week by security and intelligence analysts Stratfor, warned that he is a high risk target for racist gunmen. It concluded: "Two plots to assassinate Obama were broken up during the campaign season, and several more remain under investigation. We would expect federal authorities to uncover many more plots to attack the president that have been hatched by white supremacist ideologues."
Irate John McCain aides, who blame Mrs Palin for losing the election, claim Mrs Palin took it upon herself to question Mr Obama's patriotism, before the line of attack had been cleared by Mr McCain.
That claim is part of a campaign of targeted leaks designed to torpedo her ambitions, with claims that she did not know that Africa was a continent rather than a country.
The advisers have branded her a "diva" and a "whack job" and claimed that she did not know which other countries are in the North American Free Trade Area, (Canada and Mexico). They say she spent more than $150,000 on designer clothes, including $40,000 on her husband Todd and that she refused to prepare for the disastrous series of interviews with CBS's Katie Couric.
In a bid to salvage her reputation Mrs Palin came out firing in an interview with CNN, dismissing the anonymous leakers in unpresidential language as "jerks" who had taken "questions or comments I made in debate prep out of context."
She said: "I consider it cowardly. It's not true. That's cruel, it's mean-spirited, it's immature, it's unprofessional and those guys are jerks if they came away taking things out of context and then tried to spread something on national news that's not fair and not right."
She was not asked about her incendiary rhetoric against Mr Obama. But she did deny the spending spree claims, saying the clothes in question had been returned to the Republican National Committee. "Those are the RNC's clothes, they're not my clothes. I asked for anything more than maybe a diet Dr Pepper once in a while. These are false allegations."
Speaking as she returned to her native Alaska, Mrs Palin claimed to be baffled by what she claims was sexism on the national stage. "Here in Alaska that double standard isn't applied because these guys know that Alaskan women are pretty tough, on a par with the men in terms of being outdoors, working hard," she said.
"They're commercial fishermen, they're pilots, they're working up on the North slope in the oil fields. You see equality in Alaska. I think that was a bit of as surprise on the national level."
Isn't it a shame that Sarah Palin doesn't seek equality when it comes to her rhetoric and her views on those of a different race. Maybe equality in Palin's Alaska stops when it reaches the borders of race and patriotism.
Watch your thoughts, they become your words
Watch your words, they become your actions
Watch your actions, they become your habits
Watch your habits, they become your character
CHARACTER IS EVERYTHING

THANKS FOR ASKING - we are fine and have not been affected by the California wildfires, except with great sadness. We smelled smoke all weekend, our cars were covered with ashes, and the kids had their P.E. classes cancelled.
Please donate to the Red Cross -- and any amount would be helpful.
It's good to donate a monthly amount to the Red Cross as well as to your local Food Bank, Union Rescue Mission and several other children's charities (for homeless and abandoned children — or whatever is dear to your heart.
More people will be homeless this holiday season than ever before. We are so grateful for the blessings we do have.

I think Hill will do all right as a SoS. She won't be the best one we've ever had, but she damn sure won't be the worst one either; we've got that one RIGHT NOW.

It's time for me to follow Obama's winning success. To get out of my comfort zone and diversify (for me, posting out of my habitual blogs and forums), unlike what McCain and the Republicans failed to do and suffer miserably.
Yeah, Hillary isn't going to be the perfect Sec. of State and solve anywhere near all of the countries and world's problems.
But she's better than average at the least, and will make a great SoS at best.

She will be good if she follows instructions and doesn't try and steal his limelight.
She is a good diplomat and a lot of doors will be open to her due to her husbands international popularity.
But please, say it right.
Its not "Hillary and Barack".
Its PRESIDENT Obama, (or President elect if you like) and Hillary.
He is the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES and he takes second place to no one.
Especially a vanquished opponent who he now graciously is extending a hand of fellowship to.

Joe the Plumber, who is not a licensed Plumber and who is currently unemployed, and who condemned welfare and Social Security only to reveal that he himself has been on welfare several times, is writing a book.
That will be written in two weeks.
And its called "Joe the Plumber, Fighting for the American Dream".
:|
This book ought to be a doozy, considering its about hard work and "bootstrap" ethics, being written by a guy who neither works hard nor pulls himself up by his bootstraps.
Anyway I found this comment in ThinkProgress, and thought it was so good I am reposting it here for everyone.
It's by a blogger named Fred, and its the best comment I've read on the issue of Joe the Plumber (and liberal bashing in general).
Following is the comment.
By
BARTLEBEE, at 10:29 AM
COMMENT FROM TP:
Fred Says:
-----------------------------------
Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.
All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer’s medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.
He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe’s bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.
Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.
He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe’s employer pays these standards because Joe’s employer doesn’t want his employees to call the union.
If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he’ll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn’t think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe’s deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe’s money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.
Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads.
He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers’ Home Administration because bankers didn’t want to make rural loans.
The house didn’t have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and demanded rural electrification.
He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn’t have to.
Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn’t mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: “We don’t need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I’m a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have.”

Watch out Rush, Ayman al-Zawahri is after your job.
by Clif
Damn now I have seen everything,
al Qaeda’s #2 is channeling the KKK or somebody,
“Al-Zawahri says in an audio message, which appeared on militant Web sites Wednesday,
He calls Obama a “house negro.”
It’s sort of like when Rush the fat drug addict played “Barack The Magic Negro” on His Show ….
Or when Sean Hannity had the anti-Semitic loon Andy Martin on his show to spread more distortions of Barack Obama’s message ……
Tom Delay tried to claim Barack was a marxist or socialist at best …..
Of course Anthrax Coulter had to go all Godwin on us;
“With one association after another, that is beyond the pale with Barack Obama, I feel like we are talking to the Germans after Hitler comes to power, saying ‘Oh, well, I didn’t know. I had no idea he was gonna be like this.’ With this guy, Americans ought to know.” …..
Of course there is Joe Lieberman, he tried to make us afraid of Barack, but it did not work on us,
al Zawarhi that is a different matter it seems, he seems to fear Obama.
Who can forget Joe the plumber, we aren’t really sure what he was after … but fame, and making sure he could spread right wing dis-info about Barack.
Or right wing idiots like Mike Gallagher falsely claiming; “that the Obamas don’t believe in giving their children Christmas presents or birthday gifts.”
Jonah Goldberg (the clown who can’t tell the philosophical difference between fascism and liberalism) falsely claimed “cannot credibly talk of love of country while simultaneously dodging the word and concept of patriotism.”
At least in a New York Times Op-ed, columnist Bill Kristol provided evidence that he suffers from Obama Derangement Syndrome … (The symptoms of this syndrome include a pathological hatred of Barack Obama and a willingness to believe any and every lie about him that makes its way into the blogosphere.) … which lead to many many mistakes in his factually challenged word salads.
Or when the right wing Wurlitzer claimed he was a secret Muslim, (So secret he attends a Christian church for 20 years) talk about deep cover ……
Or paled around with terrorists …
Man that must have hurt Ayman al-Zawahri’ s feelings because he wasn’t one of Barack’s supposed terrorists friends.
Maybe that is why Zawahri is lashing out at Obama even before he assumes the mantle of leader of the free world.
I guess it is the enemy of my enemy thingie.
Rush, Delay, Kristol, Libermann, Coulter, Hannity, Martin, Goldberg, Palin, Gallagher, Joe the plumber, … hmm, al Zawarhi sure picks some strange people to ally himself with.

I'm posting an amazing essay by Garrison Kellior which echos my sentiments exactly.
I think Obama is so dignified, so gracious, such a gentleman. He is a combination of Gregory Peck and Jimmy Stewart.
So many things have changed already. I now feel we can show our children the world and soak up other cultures without having eggs thrown at us.
We are no longer "The Ugly American" under a cloud of suspicion.

Nothing to be sorry about, i've just been real busy lately...............for the record I like Obama's picks, I think he's surrounding himself with smart people just like he said he would.
For the record I dont hate Hillary........any contempt or disgust I exhibitted towards hillary was based strictly on her actions and behavior during the primaries........she ACTED like Karl Rove therefore I treated her like Karl Rove...............I TRY to focus on peoples actions and behavior and thus hate the behavior rather than the person.
Personally I have no problem with Hillary as Sec of state or Gates staying on as Sec of Def...............I think they both have the potential to to a great job and clean up Bush and his Neo Con cronnies foreign policy disasters.
But at this point I seriously think Secs of Treasury, Health, and energy will play the BIGGEST roles to define Obama's Administration and legacy...............I think renewable energy/public transportation as well as Green job creation and National Health Care will be the legacy Obama rams through and I think he will hit the ground running fast, almost immediately.
Honestly I think Hillary is sucking up the media attention and dominating the News cycle at Obama's behest to help camaflage Obama's true agenda that he intends to implement quickly.
